Survive a crazed yandere

Saiko No Sutoka is a premium horror adventure video game wherein you must escape from a crazy stalker. Developed by habupain, this indie survival game features a unique enemy AI that behaves quite differently from most horror game enemies.

Saiko No Sutoka is set in your run-of-the-mill school environment, but it’s already past school hours, and you must leave the place while avoiding a dangerously crazy girl roaming around the halls. The gameplay revolves around stealth, resource management, and quick thinking, as you must find a way to escape without falling victim to her twisted mind games.

Not your average stalker

Yandere is a portmanteau of two Japanese words—yanderu, which means to be sick, and deredere, which means lovestruck. Thus, a yandere is usually a sweet, caring, and innocent person. However, they turn extremely violent or psychotic out of their high level of devotion to their targeted love interest. This character type is often used in anime and is even the subject of some popular games, like the Yandere Simulator.

Unlike the aforementioned game, however, you have to run from one in Saiko No Sutoka. A Psycho Stalker in translation, this creepy and deranged enemy will be actively searching for you. To win, you must open the exit, which is locked by a keycode. You have to look around the school for clues. It won’t be easy; some rooms require keys, and you can only hold one key at a time.

WAS, and D keys are for movement, and E is for interacting with objects. Pressing Shift alongside the movement keys allows you to run, but you must be careful when doing so, as you can be heard. The girl’s AI behavior is unique in that she won’t just walk up to you and attack—she will actually hidesneak, and even wait for you to turn around before stabbing you.

Five ways to face Saiko-chan

Saiko no Sutoka offers five distinct game modes, each providing a unique challenge and twist on the survival horror experience. Yandere Mode is the standard gameplay mode, where Saiko-chan unpredictably shifts between playful affection and violent outbursts, keeping you constantly on edge. Hard Mode intensifies the difficulty by making her AI even smarter and more brutal, forcing you to think fast and act strategically to escape.

Normal Mode provides a more balanced experience, maintaining tension without overwhelming difficulty. Yangire Mode ramps up the danger—the most challenging mode, turning Saiko-chan into a fully aggressive and relentless killer with no moments of kindness. Lastly, Nightmare Mode in this game is the ultimate test of survival, pushing the horror experience to its most intense level. Each mode adds depth and replayability, ensuring no two playthroughs feel alike.

However, this game can be highly challenging, especially in more complex modes like Yangire and Nightmare. Some players may find the difficulty spikes frustrating rather than engaging. A minority of users have also reported bugs or performance issues, such as glitches in character movement or occasional crashes. In addition, this game contains mature content, such as the depiction of blood, gore, and violence, that may not be appropriate for all audiences.

Can be difficult to escape

Saiko no Sutoka offers a thrilling survival horror experience where players must escape from a relentless, psychotic stalker in a school setting. With five distinct game modes, including the intense Yangire and Nightmare modes, the game offers replayability and a challenging AI. However, the steep difficulty spikes and occasional technical issues may deter some players. Despite these drawbacks, it remains an engaging, unique experience for horror fans seeking tension and strategy.
